Install Manta, allow location, and press Start. That's all your first trip takes.
Manta records with your iPhone's GPS, so you need no extra hardware. On first launch, a short guide sets up your boat and asks for the permissions a recording needs.
Permissions
- Location, set to “Always”: recording continues while the phone is locked.
- Motion: lets Manta feel the engine's vibration.
- Local network: only needed to find a plotter or other devices on the boat's WiFi.
- Photos: optional, to place your pictures in a trip.
Recording
Open the Live tab and tap Start recording. Manta logs your departure on its own once you're under way. When you're back, end the recording, and the finished trip opens with its map, log and charts.
