What Manta detects on its own, and how to adjust it.
Manta combines GPS, the phone's motion sensors and, if connected, your instruments to recognise what happens on board:
- Departure and arrival
- Engine on and off, from the hull's vibration
- Tacks and gybes, on sailboats with the engine off
- Anchoring, told apart from mooring in a harbour
Adjusting
Automatic entries carry a small sparkle. Tap one to change its type or time; it then counts as your own entry. Under Settings → Automatic logging you can switch each kind of detection on or off.
